At Kidola, we know every family has its own needs. That is why we are making parent updates more flexible: you can now run your whole setting in delayed mode while keeping a few children live.
What changes
Until now, the update mode was chosen for the whole setting. Either every update went out to parents live, as the day unfolded, or they were all sent later.
That worked for most settings, but it lacked flexibility. Some teams prefer delayed updates to keep the day calm and avoid sending parents an alert for every bottle and every nappy change. Yet for a few families, knowing in real time what is happening is genuinely useful.
With this new feature, you no longer have to pick one or the other. You keep delayed mode for the setting as a whole and turn on live mode only for the children you choose.
A concrete example: waking up from a nap
Take Léa, whose mother picks her up every day after her nap. With delayed updates, her mother had no idea when Léa had woken up. She had to call the nursery, or simply turn up and hope for the best.
Now the team can switch Léa to live mode. As soon as the wake-up is recorded in Kidola, her mother sees it and can set off at the right moment. She is not waiting outside the door, Léa is not woken earlier than she needs to be, and the team is not interrupted by phone calls.
The benefits for your setting
- A calmer day to day: delayed stays the rule, and parents are not pinged all day long.
- An answer tailored to each family: those who need information straight away get it, without it involving everyone.
- Fewer calls and interruptions: parents know when to come, and the team stays focused on the children.
- Smoother pick-ups: leaving after a nap or in the middle of the day becomes far less stressful.
How to turn it on
Everything is set from your setting's settings, in the Tutors section.
- Check that « Show daily details » is ticked.
- Untick « Show current sheet to tutors »: the whole setting then moves to delayed mode.
- A « Children whose tutors see the current sheet » field appears just below. Select the children you want to keep live.
You can also make the change from the child's profile: open their profile, then tick « Show current sheet to tutors ». That box only appears if your setting is in delayed mode, since in live mode every child is already live.

What is the difference between live and delayed updates?
In live mode, parents see the current day's sheet as it fills up: meals, naps, nappy changes and activities appear as the team records them. In delayed mode, that sheet only becomes visible to them once the day is over.
Can both modes be mixed within the same setting?
Yes, in one direction: you keep delayed mode for the setting as a whole and pick the children who stay live. If the setting is on live mode, every child is live, so there is nothing to set child by child.
Where is the update mode set in Kidola?
In the setting's settings, in the Tutors section. The « Show current sheet to tutors » box controls the whole setting, and the « Children whose tutors see the current sheet » field lists the exceptions. The same option is available directly on each child's profile.
Can you change your mind during the year?
Yes. The option can be changed at any time, both for the setting and for an individual child. You could, for instance, put a child in live mode during settling-in, then move them back to delayed afterwards.
